Sony starts rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update for Xperia XA Ultra smartphone

NEW DELHI: Japanese smartphone makerSony has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update for its Xperia XA Ultrasmartphone. The XA Ultra was launched in August last year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

The update brings new Android Nougat-related features like long battery life, multi-window support, smart home screen, improved messaging, new notification panel and more. It also includes the May 2017 security patch.

For those unaware, the highlight of Sony Xperia XA Ultra is its 16MP front-facing autofocus Exmor R camera, which comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

In terms of specifications, Sony Xperia XA Ultra features a large 6-inch Full HD display, powered by Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 SoC, paired with 3GB of RAM.

Besides a 16MP front-facing camera, the Xperia XA Ultra sports a 21.5MP Exmor RS autofocus rear camera. The smartphone comes with 16GB of internal storage, with support for microSD cards of up to 200GB in size.

The Xperia XA Ultra is backed by a 2,700mAh battery, which is more than the 2,300mAh battery of the original XA.

Last week, Sony launched its WS623 Walkman music player in India. Priced at Rs 8,990, the device is available across all Sony Centers.

The WS623 Walkman comes with Bluetooth and NFC support, and is designed for sports enthusiasts. It has IP65/68 rating for dust and water resistance. The device is salt-waterproof as well.

Sony WS623 comes with waterproof earbuds that are covered with a thin film to prevent water damage. Weighing 32g, it is 10% smaller than the WS410 series and 35% smaller than the WS610 Series. It can endure extreme temperatures from -5°C to 45°C, making it ideal for hikes or climbs.
